A Crossville man is free after his arrest Saturday night in Carmi. Carmi Police say they pulled over 65-year-old Charles Newman at 12th and Gilpin just after 11pm for driving on an expired registration. Newman was subsequently placed in cuffs on charges of Driving while License Revoked and also cited for Possession of Adult use Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. He was booked and released early Sunday morning with a notice to appear on June 10th.
In 2016, Newman was sentenced to five years in prison for Unlawful Delivery of Meth. In 2019, he was sentenced to 15 years on a new incident involving the same charge.
