Crossville Man Jailed After Injuring Father

A Crossville man remains in custody this (thur) morning following his arrest by the White County Sheriff’s Department on an aggravated domestic battery charge.

52 year old Andy L. Scarlett of 105 South Goodman Street, Crossville was arrested around 1:30 Wednesday night after he allegedly struck his father, Gene L. Scarlett, 86 of the same address, causing serious injuries to the elder Scarlett.

First responders arrived and treated Gene Scarlett, who was later transferred by Deaconess Illinois Ambulance to Deaconess Gateway Hospital for further treatment..

Deputy George Spencer was the first to respond to the scene, after being contacted by the elder Scarlett and his wife, Ferris’ caretaker. Crossville Police Officer Jonathan Lucas and White County Sheriff Doug Maier also assisted at the scene.

Andy Scarlett was transported to the City County Jail in Carmi, where he remained, awaiting bond.

Authorities also advised the elder Scarletts about the procedure for obtaining an order of protection.

 

Crossville police arrested Timothy A Wilson, 22 of 407 First Street just before 8 Wednesday night. Wilson was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked. Wilson posted $150 bail and was released from custody.

Earlier in the day, the sheriff’s department received a report of criminal damage to property.

Veronica S. Taylor, 43, 319 Mulberry Street, Enfield, reported someone had released the air from all four of her car’s tires, while it was parked in her driveway. Taylor told authorities she did not know who may have caused the damage. The incident remains under investigation.
