We're still in the process of fulfilling our final partner drop off locations. Information on where you can drop off non perishable food, toiletries and other household necessities will be released prior to November 28th. These will be the same locations where listeners will be able to register for our grand prize of a $1,000 gift certificate at Rush Appliance in Carmi.
Over 14% of the population in the immediate listening area is at or below the poverty line. By partnering with the business community, several “Elf a Shelf” donation points have been set up with barrels to accept non-perishable food items. You can drop off items between November 28 and January 5.
“We wanted to help and what we found out was that there were a lot of other folks that wanted to help too,” said stations manager Jc Tinsley.
“All the food pantries that we’ve been working in conjunction with over the last 5 years have been overwhelmingly appreciative and welcoming of the idea. Our business partners have been anxious to jump on board and make a difference also.”
Elf a Shelf donation points can be found in Carmi, Albion, Crossville, McLeansboro and Ridgway. Up to 25 businesses are participating.
One lucky shelf-elfer wins a $1,000 gift card to Rush Appliance in Carmi from WROY/WRUL, just in time for Christmas.
